Dear All,
It is with immense sadness that I must inform you of the passing of President Emeritus Sir Humphrey Burton.
We received the following email from his family this morning:
'We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Sir Humphrey Burton, 94. After a final brief period of illness, at 5:15am on Wednesday 17th December, he died peacefully at home with family by his side.
He was deeply loved by his children and grandchildren, and his commitment to spreading the joy of music was so inspiring. A huge influence on several generations of arts programme makers, he will be missed beyond words. We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace.'
He was a wonderful and awe inspiring man in so many ways. We will miss him deeply.
